Pros of taking lessons in an Automatic car:
Automatic cars are easier to learn in. The car has only 2 pedals, an accelerator, and a brake.
Cons:
If you pass your test in an Automatic car you can only drive an Automatic car. If you wish to drive a Manual car, you will be required to retake and pass a practical test using a Manual car.
Pros of taking lessons in a Manual car:
If you pass in a Manual car, you can drive both Manual and Automatic cars.
Cons:
It is harder to learn how to drive in a Manual car. The car has 3 pedals, an accelerator, a brake, and a clutch. Generally it can take some time to get used to the clutch biting point.
You will be ready for the test when you show that you have reached the standards set by the DVSA. Learners who pass at their first attempt do so because they are well instructed and get plenty of practice. They pass because they wait until they are fully ready. Our instructors have the knowledge and experience to advise you when you have reached this level. It is the instructor’s responsibility to ensure that you are capable and safe to drive alone, without supervision. If you book your practical test without their prior approval, they may not allow you the use of their car.
Foreign licence holders from countries specified on the DVLA website are generally allowed to drive in the UK for 12 months but have to pass a test before this time elapses to continue to drive as a “full licence holder”. To apply for the test, foreign licence holders need a provisional licence just like UK applicants but don’t have to display “L” plates and don’t have to drive under supervision within the 12 months period. However, we recommend taking driving lessons with a qualified instructor even if you are an experienced driver as the UK driving test is very hard to pass and often underestimated.
You pay directly to your driving instructor. They will inform you of the payment methods they accept. 100% of your payment goes to the instructor, and there are no hidden costs or service fees charged by BOOK2PASS.
